thanks to ai I'm writing one-off programs to scratch any itch I have. I created a complete spaced-repetition japanese app that does exactly how I want it to work. ai is literally a liberatory brain expanding technology if you use it correctly, instead of one-shotting yourself with genai porn or believing it's your girlfriend

@sun Bro Team turned his into a pajeet.
@sun Can it make video games? Someone should make a Vampire Survivors-like but it's Contra.
@thomasroiloup I am learning how to animate sprites with it which was a critical thing I was missing. I have artist friends but they're all too busy to work on low paying slop
@thomasroiloup but to answer your question, "kind of". with a lot of hand holding it can do some stuff.

@sun Making a game might be good for fabulous cash and prizes!
@thomasroiloup I am investigating what it would take to make a slop game factory. I don't know what everyone could potentially do but I will need help at some point.
@sun We would put out awesome games (only the primest slop).
@sun @thomasroiloup I've been on-and-off slopping together a game engine throughout the year. There's a variety of reasons I'm going as slow as I mean, least of which is how low-level I've been doing everything, but my assumption has remained that if you have a decent foundational engine that has a veil of separation between game and engine code, you can be off to the races building games on top of that. (One of the classic blunders, no less.) If you had "a harness" and "API access" and just let the basilisk go at it, I'm sure you could trim down the four-ish months I've been working down into like a couple weeks of fruitful work.
