@anemone I have been watching clips on youtube of the office and the sheer amount of just great comedy is incredible. on the other hand I tried watching two and a half men and didn't laugh even once

@sun What differentiates them? The writing? The setting and influences?

@anemone I've laughed at that once or twice but it's not great.

@vii they seem to have the same irony audience but the office just hits every time and the other ones seem fart-huffing

@sun I never watched 30 Rock; Tina Fey always bugged me in acting roles. I've watched a few episodes of the Office and of Parks and Rec and... I guess if I were stuck in a hotel room waiting for something for an hour I'd watch them but I have been so disconnected from TV for so long at this point.

@sun @anemone I could never get into Parks and Rec, it really feels like an inferior version of the office that tries too hard. I like Abbot Elementary, but maybe I'm biased because of my own experiences with the education system.

@sun @vii one time at a bar someone was playing a live cover of the song that jan's former assistant played that one episode with all the insane tension at that dinner at michael's everyone went over for before the police came, and nobody in the audience recognized the song 😭drove me crazy

@vii @sun The office is well written and well made (up to a point** ). Afaict two and a half men is old school brain rot.

**For network television

@sun parks and rec and thirty rock are ok, but the office has them beat. The office may be the last decent thing ever produced by network television. I have half a thesis on it parked between my lobes, I'll save it for that degree in media studies I'll be getting when I reinvent myself as a shitlib
