A fun thing to do with someone you (think that you) know well:
You both fill out some test/quiz (mbti/moral foundations/political compass) and before sharing results you fill it out again of what you think the other person would answer.
My other half and I have done this a few times and it's been very illuminating each time.

I'm fascinated and inspired by the free and open web and have really enjoyed my time on the Fediverse. I'm passionate about #decentralization and censorship resistance, and like to put what I learn to practice.
Over the last few years, my gears have shifted to an intense (natural) #WeightLoss mission. I'm down almost 280lbs down from 570. Being so large was very difficult and I've learned a lot getting to this point.

Inverse class jealousy pattern
I saw a nutty commie blog talk about this but I think it's a real thing: some of the wealthy are actually jealous of the poor in unintuitive ways, and are deeply insecure about it.
One of the examples from the blog was that food that poor people rely on ends up being appropriated. But I actually think it's exemplified by the "hustle bro" CEO culture. The way you see these people with what is effectively an "e-mail job" talking about hard work and grit like they dig ditches to keep the lights on.
There's this romanticized ideal that is signaled from a place that can only come from deep insecurity. Why can't someone so fabulously wealthy just say "yeah I have an easy life and it's actually a lot of fun to do cool things! "?
Which is where I think it comes from the fact that the status games at high levels are immensely isolating. It all makes things that ordinary people need to survive (like trust, connection and deep social bonds) actually appear like unattainable fantasies. I think it all leads to a bizare combination of resentment and jealousy. Which is why you see even moderately wealthy people have this attitude of not just disdain for the poor, but an irrational resentment against them.
Future status: smallest open source violin playing forever.
Please pardon the brainrot, but I wanted to share this.

If you only take people you like seriously you've limited your learning potential. Don't get affiliation confused for insight.
Every corrupt system selects against competence and integrity because those traits are at odds with the actual game being played.
I think the Independent Web is held back by the lack of short-form vertical content. So many times I'll visit a beautifully designed personal website and not have any idea where to start.
I really wish my browser would automatically play a full-screen vertical video where the creator helps me get to know the real them with a short introduction and factorio gameplay on the bottom half.
So for those of you who maintain your own websites, please get on this.
